Read: Dune + Red Mars

On my mission to fill in the blanks on my sci-fi finished reading Frank Herbert’s Dune and Red Mars by Kim Stanley Robinson. Short reviews:

  • Dune: how did I not read this before? Would have loved this book when 15, still very impressive, right up there with Lord of The Rings. Especially notable is the tangible feelings certain chapters convey. Weird to be hooked by a fight scene you know the result of.
  • Red Mars: at the best points very Jules Verne’y, occasionally dry like the surface of Mars. Will probably read parts II and III some day but no such urgency as to visit Dune sequels.

Next up: going back to “The Man in the High Castle” I already started during Christmas but went with Expanse books instead and “Among Others” by Jo Walton
