Today is Maslenitsa or in Finland Laskiainen. In Russia you would eat blin and in Finland pea soup and Laskiaispulla pastry. Tomorrow Orthodox and Catholic people start the lent which I am mostly following this year (no meat, no alcohol, no sugar, I will not however drop olive oil or other fats altogether).
